Blackstar Figure Foto
Toy Line: Blackstar Fantasy Figures
Sculpt Names: Overlord & Palace Guard
Color: Red & Green
Collector's Note: Here we have some 1984 Blackstar mini figures. How cool are they? They stand 2.5" tall, are made of a cheap, flexible plastic, and are trademarked Hong Kong © 1984 Filmation Assoc. I'm not sure in which countries these were available. They came in a bag with a header card, and were called Blackstar Fantasy Figures. A little play mat was included, so these may have been intended to be pieces for a board game. There were twelve sculpts in total, which came in 5 colors: blue, red, yellow, orange, and green. You can see pics of the packaging at the Blackstar section of Nijirain.com.
As you can see, it's not the tightest of sculpting, and the poses are pretty underwhelming. However, they are mono-colored, Blackstar, mini figures after all and therefore super cool.
If/when I get my hands on more of these, I'll create a full entry for them. Here's an MXD entry for the Blackstar action figure line in the meantime.

Great post! I only have some Space Ace figures, which are strangely similar to these. They are smaller and don't appear to be Blackstar figures, but look like they were sculpted by the same person.
You took the words right out of my mouth! I have a Space Ace figure as well, and when I first got these (in the mail a day or so ago) I too thought they looked to be sculpted by the same person.
In fact, when I first started seeing figs from the two lines, I thought they were from the same line. (Did that make sense?)
The Space Ace figs are quite smaller. I'll post a comparison pic asap.
I'm looking at the figures side-by-side right now, and the big similarity is the legs.
The thigh muscles, knees, and boots on my Blackstar and Space Ace figure are virtually identical save for the size difference. Interesting.
Yeah, I wonder how that came about. I just remembered though, I have what I think is a Blackstar character on the same scale as my other Space Ace figures. See the orange and red guys here:

Could be wrong about that but he looks like a guy from Blackstar to me.
Hm, curiouser and curiouser.
That sculpt does not appear to be included in this Space Ace bubble card. However, it appears that one figure may be missing from it. How crazy would that be.
Also, looking at those other Space Ace sculpts: the one appears to have a virtually identical chest/torso and gun as the Blackstar Overlord above, and another appears to have the same chest/torso as the Blackstar Tonga (not pictured here).
Either the Space Ace are boots of the Blackstar or vice versa, or the same artist did both lines and "recycled" some body parts.
