The Little Rubber Guys forum has a brand new classifieds section where members can post advertisements for toys they want to buy, sell, or trade. It's even possible to run an auction. Currently, members can run a free listing for seven days! You can see my listings under my user profile. Below are some hi-res pics of stuff I want and have. |

Cheap Toys Repros Figure Foto

Toy Line: GPK Cheap Toys Series Two Reproductions
Sculpt Names: Les Vegas and Berserk Kirk
Color: Custom Green and Yellow (non-Novo Bonbon)
Collector's Note: These two figures are custom reproductions of S2 Cheap Toys figures. They were produced by Eric Nilla, noted illustrator, sculptor, and mold-maker/caster. Eric has quickly been increasing his skills as a mold-maker and mini-figure caster, and it shows with these two Cheap Toys reproductions. He appears to have cleanly captured every detail of both highly-detailed sculpts.
Unless attempting to complete a toy set, I'm not typically one to acquire multiple figures of a sculpt. Rather I'm happy to have one figure of a sculpt in a color that shows its detail well. Thus, I've never been a big purchaser of repros. However, in this case, I don't currently own original S2 Cheap Toys - and I've never owned these two sculpts in particular - but I'm a huge fan. Therefore, adding these two figures to my collection is very satisfying. I can finally admire the wonderful Les Vegas sculpt up close and personal.
For those who are opposed to reproductions on philosophical grounds or for fears that they will devalue original S2 figures, have no fears. These figures are easily distinguished from authentic S2 figures; they are made of an incredibly pleasant, firm but flexible rubber and they have noticeable (but not obtrusive) dremel marks on the bottoms of their feet. Finally, the colors do not exactly match the original Novo Green and Yellow.
Well done, Eric. I can't wait to see which mini-figure line you visit next!

Cheap Toys Figure Foto
Toy Line: Garbage Pail Kids Cheap Toys Series One
Sculpt Name: Muggin' Megan
Collector's Note: Perhaps the most attractive factory minifigure color of all time, the series one Cheap Toys "Neon" Red. The material for this color is also a wonderful, slightly rubbery plastic. As always, pictures don't do this color justice. You must have one in-hand for the full effect!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays mini-figure collectors!

GPK Cheap Toys Figabulary

Toy Line: Custom Garbage Pail Kids Cheap Toys
Sculpt Name: Nasty Nick
Color: Magenta
Collector's Note: Did you catch that in the details above? This is a custom piece. It pretty much came out of no where. A member of the mini figure toy community, who goes by the handle Muscle Things, commissioned the piece from a professional toy sculptor who prefers to remain anonymous. This individual sculpted Nick in wax, and Muscle Things himself made a mold of the wax master and has cast the piece in magenta and Chocolate brown (and possibly other colors). Muscle Things is well known in the community for making high quality reproductions and custom pieces cast in an incredible rubbery plastic. For lovers of Japanese keshi mini figures, rubbery plastic is a must.
This Nasty Nick piece is phenomenal. The scale and style match perfectly the other Series One Cheap Toys which it was intended to mimic. In fact, if a non-Cheap Toys collector were to see this piece, I'm certain they would be unable to tell it was not part of the original serious. This is what I have always looked for in a true custom figure, and it pleases me to no end. Don't get me wrong, I love kitbash figures and amateur custom sculpts as much as the next collector, but as a vintage mini figure collector there's nothing like seeing a completely new piece that looks like an authentic production figure added to the line. (Garbage Pail Kid purists may disagree.)
Furthermore, the sculpt itself is amazing. The level of detail is second to none of the other series one sculpts. When I first learned of this figure, I was shocked that this was the character commissioned. It seems to me that it would have been one of the toughest GPK characters to interpret into a 3D sculpture. The cape and doll figure at that scale would give any sculptor fits, but our anonymous sculptor nailed both of those features perfectly. Everything about this figure is a win, and I'll just let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
